ANF Project Receives 2024 ENR Regional Best Projects Award

Broward Sheriff’s Office Research, Development and Training Center wins in the category

Best Project, Government/Public Building

DAVIE, Fla. – (October 29, 2024) – ANF, a full-service construction and development firm, wins the 2024 ENR Southeast Regional Best Projects for the Broward Sheriff’s Office (BSO) Research, Development and Training Center (R.D.T.C.) in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.  Led by ANF’s design-build team of architects and engineers, the BSO R.D.T.C. won in the Government/Public Building category.

The BSO R.D.T.C. is a 104,000-square-foot design-build project dedicated to training law enforcement officers from across Broward County. The main entrance into the training center features a memorial in remembrance of the victims who died at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland.

R.D.T.C. is a 4-story building with a 7-story parking garage with 653 parking spaces.  Every aspect of the R.D.T.C. is specifically built to enhance the preparedness of first responders. The facility features specialized training rooms, simulation labs and tactical firing ranges designed to replicate real-world scenarios and hone critical decision-making skills and tactical readiness. Some key components of the R.D.T.C. include two 50-yard tactical firing ranges, a two-story shoot house offering flexible configurations for various unique scenarios, EMS simulation labs, a rappelling tower for SWAT and fire rescue personnel, and three large configurable classrooms to accommodate employees’ ongoing educational and professional development.

Per ENR more than 120 projects were submitted to ENR Southeast’s 2024 Regional Best Projects contest, judges chose 35 projects as either Best Project or Award of Merit winners in 16 categories. The judges scored projects on multiple criteria, including how the project teams overcame challenges and worked together as a team, how they innovated and contributed to the industry, the construction quality and craftsmanship of the project, its function and aesthetics, and more.   The ENR Southeast Regional Best Projects Awards event will take place on October 29 in Orlando.

In addition, BSO R.D.T.C. was an honoree for the South Florida Business Journal 2024 Structures Awards in the category of Best Public/Civil Project.  The South Florida Business Journal’s Structures Awards program celebrates South Florida’s top-of-class projects, deals and dealmakers in real estate.
