February 23, 2023
KEY BISCAYNE, FL – Local business and community leaders gathered for the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce’s (GMCC) Workforce Housing Solutions Summit: Practical Solutions for Workforce Housing to identify solutions to the high-cost and low-availability of housing in South Florida. Workforce housing is defined as housing that is affordable for families whose incomes are within 60% to 140% of Miami-Dade County’s area median income (AMI) as reported by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development ($68,300 as of April 2022) Miami-Dade County – Housing Income Limits as of April 2022. This translates to a range of $78,000 to $136,500 adjusted for a family of four. City of Miami workforce housing income ranges.
As a local leader in workforce housing construction, ANF Group was proud to help sponsor this event and be at the forefront of this important conversation. Vice President of Project Development for ANF Group, A.J. Meyer, chairs the GMCC’s Workforce Housing Committee and was integral in curating this exceptional event. Discussions included updates on workforce housing legislation, review of a SMART Plan and Workforce Housing case study, approvals and permitting improvements, and an in-depth look into the Universal Parks & Resorts’ Housing for Tomorrow Initiative.
In correlation with the summit, the GMCC has released the second edition of their Workforce Housing Resource Guide. Partnering with nonprofit organizations, banks, businesses, universities, and government, the Committee has updated this guide that seeks to identify current available resources to support the development and creation of workforce housing units. This guide helps to serve as a road map in identifying areas where resources can be leveraged. We look forward to seeing the summit’s solutions integrated into the next edition of this guide.
